Brooklyn, NY
Garage rock
RIYL: Holiday Shores, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Real Estate
Little Racer are a three-piece from Brooklyn, New York. Their music combines the energy and basement youth of New York’s Garage rock scene with a West-coast soul and pop influence. Their debut single is due for release on 12th December on 7” through Young and Lost Club. The single is available now digitally.
Formed in late 2009, with college connections linking the band, Little Racer consists of Elliot Michaud (lead vox, guitar, keys), Ish Nazmi (bass, backing vox) and Mike Seay (drums, back up vox).
Written by Elliot after his girlfriend moved from LA to join him in New York, ‘Split For The Coast’ is the tale of how she was turned off by the coldness, both in the climate and people of NYC, finally confessing she couldn’t live in NY anymore. With cutting rawness blended into sweet Calypso and Bossa Nova breaks, ‘Split For The Coast’ resolves to encompass the sad yet healing background nature of the track.
The flip A-side ‘The Town’ is a 4-minute narrative of discovery and travel, that trips and grooves along, conveying the freshness of arriving in a new place, with the wonder of familiar things seeming so spectacular in a new environment. “This song is about the excitement of travel and short-lived romances we have with foreign places” say Little Racer.
Perfectly exhibiting their love for ‘60s surf pop, blended with their extensive world music and popular influences – ‘Split For The Coast’ and ‘The Town’ are their tales of heartbreak, dreams and discovery.
